King Arthur Has Blue Balls (Flour Recalled)

Let the record show that we made it till Wednesday of this week before receiving word of yet another recall occasioned by the possible presence of foreign objects in your food.

King Arthur Flour has issued a voluntary recall of certain bags of its flour because of the risk that the bags might contain — and we’re just going to quote from the press release here because we wouldn’t even know how to paraphrase this properly — “the possible presence of small (7-9 mm) blue polyurethane balls that are used in the sifting process”.

The balls “have a smooth surface and no sharp edges,” as ball are wont to do.

King Arthur Has Blue Balls (Flour Recalled)

King Arthur reports that not only have there been any injuries or illnesses related to this recall, but no consumers have actually found any of these blue balls in their bags of flour.

Specifically, the company is recalling five pound bags of its King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour with the UPC code 0-71012-01050-9 and one of nine specific combinations of best-used-by date and lot code. It is also recalling five pound bags of its King Arthur Unbleached Bread Flour with the UPC code 0-71012-04105-3 and one of nine specific combinations of best-used-by date and lot code.

You can view the complete list of best-used and lot-code combinations at the FDA website.
