St. Louis Cardinal Brendan Donovan heard “support the troops,” and took that personally. He’s teaming up with Team Red, White, and Blue (Team RWB) to launch the first annual Brendan Donovan Charity Clay Shoot. The inaugural shoot will take place on Thursday, August 7th at the Strathalbyn Farms Club in Weldon Spring, Missouri.

The idea behind the event is to have Donovan (and a few of his teammates), along with some local celebrities, come together for a community-centered day of shooting clay pigeons and enjoying one another’s company. The proceeds from the event will benefit Team RWB.

Team RWB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is dedicated to enriching the lives of Veterans through health and wellness programs that nurture both strong interpersonal and community connections.

Says Donovan, “I’m incredibly proud and honored to announce my partnership with Team RWB for the upcoming charity clay shoot on August 7. This organization does truly vital work, enriching the lives of Veterans through health and wellness programming. I believe it’s our duty to give back to those who have given so much for our country.”

Donovan comes by his commitment to the military community naturally. He was born in Germany when his father was serving in the U.S. Army, and has been an advocate for Veterans and their families for most of his life. He was named a 2025 finalist for the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award, which honors Major League Baseball players who show a strong commitment to service and to the military.

His commitment to supporting military Veterans is maybe even more impressive than his performance for the Cardinals. In 71 games this season, he’s been the best 2nd baseman in the National League out of all qualified hitters. As of June 24th, he ranked first in Hits, Extra Base Hits, Batting Average, On-Base Percentage, Slugging Percentage, OPS, and WAR. He’s a rising leader both on and off the field and a beloved presence in the heart of the Cardinals’ lineup.

“We’re fired up to partner with Brendan Donovan for this incredible event,” said Mike Erwin, Executive Director of Team RWB. “Brendan represents the very best of what it means to serve something bigger than yourself. His deep, personal connection to the military and his passion for giving back make him an outstanding teammate in our mission to support America’s Veterans.”

If you’re interested in being an event sponsor, there are still opportunities available! Sponsor level options include Presenting ($25,000), Champion ($10,000), and Station ($2,000). There are also options for both team and individual shooter entries. A four-person team entry is $1,500, and an individual spot will cost $500.
