The stars of these clips are so memorable, it’s like looking at an old family album, and you’ll be able to sing a couple of these jingles until your dying day. K-SHE
This was one of the most famous St. Louis commericals ever. Dad gets home from a hard day at work and just wants to shake off his stress. Instead of kicking back with a cocktail, he frees himself of his business suit while cranking tunes and strutting around his den. Then dad opens his shirt to reveal that he’s been secretly sporting a KSHE shirt all day at the office like hoosier Superman. Classic.

Schweig-Engel
These guys were the best of the best when it came to ridiculous TV commericials. They did spoofs, they had themes and they seemed to crank out new commercials 24/7. From Jurassic Park to Ghostbusters, they were on top of the trends. They were legendary.

Dirt Cheap
Dirt Cheap had some of the most memorable local commericals of all time. Most of the spots stared either the store’s mascot — the Dirt Cheap chicken — or notable antihero Fred Teutenberg. Teutenberg passed a couple of years back, but we’ll always have his words of wisdom: “The more she drinks, the better you look.”

Becky’s Carpet and Tile Superstore
Becky of Becky’s Carpet and Tile Superstore was a glamorous vision who usually arrived on a flying carpet. Sometimes she was accompanied by Wanda Princess of Tile. These royal ladies just wanted to sell you some discount floor coverings, and the air near the Arch was their kingdom.

Carol House
Brook and Amy Dubman were advertised as sibling partners and rivals, but they always seemed to come together when it was time to give you a deal. And they taught us to go to Carol House: “Because you like nice things.”

Uncle Leonard
Described by one of our staffers as a deep well of “anti-charisma,” Uncle Leonard knew he needed something snazzy to catch the attention of the public, so he always scored good guest stars in his commercials, like Brett Hull’s mullet.

Steve Mizerany
This guy knew what was up. He knew that he was acting a fool and he didn’t care one bit. In fact, he did it on purpose. Why? It was memorable. We’re still talking about him to this day.

Jarrell’s Barbershop
This one-of-a-kind commercial is very famous on YouTube. The theme song is top-notch and the clip looks like one of those Rick James flashback scenes on The Chappelle Show. This salon was a party and we wanted to be invited.

Brown & Brown
If you needed a lawyer and you didn’t know where to go, it was always easy for folks to remember the “eyepatch guy” at Brown & Brown. Charles “Ed” Brown was also once arrested for scalping tickets during Cardinals playoffs. He gave an interview to local media at the time and said that, yes, he planned to represent himself.

Don Brown
This friendly fella has been on our televisions for decades. His smiles just make us want to buy a car from him. Luckily, we always knew where to find him, as his name seemed to be Don BrownAtTheEntranceToTheHill.

Slyman Bros.
If you needed an appliance, you knew to hit up these brothers. They performed in local commercials for decades, telling you just where to find their good deals. It worked, too; there are still Slyman Bros locations open today.

InstaCredit AutoMart
Ah, the Buckley Dynasty. Buckley was a dog who helped this chipper lady hook up your car credit. Buckley eventually passed, but the InstaCredit AutoMart lineage lives on. Check out Lulu and Punkey Ray.

Frederic Roofing
“For a hole in your roof or a whole new roof: Frederick Roofing.” You can’t help but to sing the jingle. Even local musician Tommy Hallorann had to give it props.

For a while there you couldn’t escape Earnest P. Worrell. The fictional character played by Jim Varney was everywhere, including in this often-played local commercial for Laclede Gas.

Life is so diffcult when you don’t have a friend in the diamond business, but all of that changed with those Shane Company commericals.

Missouri One Call
This commercial had a very effective jingle. Its purpose was to get the word out about getting your utility lines marked before you go digging in your yard. But for us, we’ll just never forget that bass-heavy voice giving us “Stop. Call before you dig. Call 1-800-DIG-RITE” and “Dig safely, it’s the law.”
